Transport news Hubbard Strikes the right note with H.N.Nuttall

Manchester based foodservice supplier, H. N. Nuttall Ltd has added ten new refrigerated vehicles to its 23 strong fleet. Built by Bespoke Bodies of Warrington the vehicles will supplement Nuttall's nationwide delivery service and all ten, feature Hubbard refrigeration units.

The vehicles include two 15 tonne MAN trucks with undermount Hubbard DFZ 465 multi temperature refrigeration units and two DAF 18 tonne trucks with nosemount Hubbard DFZ 425, diesel drive multi temperature refrigeration units. All ten units have electric standby capability.

Nuttall's is an independent, family owned company that has been trading for over 150 years and can trace its roots back to a single Grocer's shop in central Manchester and bases its success on good service. The choice of Hubbard units was simple for Nuttall's, Transport Manager, Andrew Jepson says: "Our fleet covers the whole of the west side of England undertaking daily drops from as far north as Cumbria down to Eastbourne on the south coast. The vehicles are predominantly twin compartment for frozen and chilled delivery and the refrigeration units have to operate effectively and most importantly, reliably. The initial response to such a specification would be to specify very large units, but in our experience that is overkill, Hubbard units are not only efficient but they are cost effective and our previous experience of them proves that they rarely let us down".

The Nuttall fleet delivers in both town and country with each vehicle averaging around 20 door openings per shift carrying chilled products including branded dairy and meat products and in the frozen compartment, branded pies, sausages, fish, breads and desserts to a wide range of catering outlets from hospitals, through hospitality and leisure to major sports centres and stadia.

H.N. Nuttall operates 24 hours a day, taking orders during the day, picking and loading overnight, with the compartments kept at +2°C and -20°C on electric standby, for next day delivery.

Andrew Jepson continues: " We were particularly keen to deal with a British company who had a global presence and yet who still manufacture in the UK. Making the choice even easier, though was Hubbard's engineering support commitment with transport refrigeration service engineers based around the country for quick response and swift turnarounds".
