Hubbard help Philip Dennis Foodservice double up for efficiency

Hubbard Products Ltd has supplied Philip Dennis Foodservice of Ilfracombe, Devon with two Hubbard 720AELT-24-3 refrigerated units to enhance their chilled frozen-food delivery service.

The two company’s have had a long and successful collaboration for many years with Hubbard supplying Philip Dennis with a total of eleven refrigerated units within their current fleet of 59 LGV’s and five vans.

Philip Dennis Foodservice is a family owned regional wholesaler, supplying customers throughout the South West, Oxfordshire, Midlands, Cotswolds and Thames Valley with a complete range of frozen, chilled and ambient foods including butchery products as well as fresh fish.

Being an environmentally responsible company, Philip Dennis Foodservice are conscious of their carbon footprint and choose the Hubbard Products ‘Twice’ system to increase the efficiency of their delivery fleet. John Graver, Transport Manager at Philip Dennis Foodservice says: “Having already benefited the business by running nine Hubbard Products units on our fleet, we had confidence that the units could meet our temperature requirements allowing for the multiple door openings, up to 45 on any given delivery service, will be one hundred percent satisfactory. We especially like the key features of the 720 twice system, which uses two evaporators, each operating at different temperatures; one levels out at 3° Celsius while the other pulls down to -18 to -25 °C as required. This feature alone goes a long way toward maximising energy efficiency allowing single vehicle delivery, where previously two separate vehicles may have been required. The addition of smaller vehicles in the fleet is designed to give Philip Dennis greater flexibility”.

John continues “Here at Philip Dennis Foodservice, we are proud of our energy efficiency methods and ability to actively harness electricity for our vehicles while they are on standby, directly from the Wind Turbine on our premises. It keeps the ‘green’ element of business very much at the forefront of our activities”.

John commented that Philip Dennis have returned to purchase from Hubbard Products for many reasons, not least their excellent value for money and total reliability as well as first-class service levels when called on for assistance.

Jed Sherwood, Key Accounts Manager at Hubbard Products is pleased that once again, they could provide Philip Dennis with bespoke requirements. Jed says: “we are constantly keen to continue supplying our returning customers who realise the extent of range and technical detail that Hubbard Products can deliver on, especially where multiple compartments with moveable components coupled with reversible sections and sometimes opposing temperatures come into the mix”. Jed continues: “having previously supplied refrigerated units to Philip Dennis we had a good understanding of their latest requirements and worked through the mechanical detail together while keeping their ‘greener’ efficiency requirement at the forefront”.

The twin compartment bodies are built by Solomon Commercials on a Canter Fuso 7C15 chassis.
