Commercial news New Forest Ice Cream pick Hubbard Multi Compressor

New Forest Ice Cream the nationwide family ice cream company, producer of high-quality ice cream made exclusively from Jersey Cow’s milk, has installed a high-efficiency, Hubbard Products low temperature, six compressor refrigeration pack at its Lymington, Hampshire factory.

Specified by Set Point Services, the ECA qualifying system incorporates a heat recovery system, to convert compressor heat, an unavoidable by-product of all refrigeration equipment, into a readily usable source of heated water.

The multi compressor pack runs at -25°C and chills a 4,700 cubic metre, storage warehouse containing up to 1500 pallets of dairy and continental ice creams, sorbet and impulse range ice lollies, ice cream bars and cones.

Energy efficiency is important to New Forest Ice Cream, founded in 1983 the family-run business has expanded production into a larger production facility which incorporates specific features to ensure the chiller store is maintained at the most efficient temperature, including an airlock style double door entry system.

Barry Bridel of Set Point Systems, New Forest Ice Cream’s refrigeration contractor explains: “I have worked with New Forest Ice Cream for over 18 years and have a good understanding of their business model and how important the quality and consistency of their product is to them. The move to larger premises required us to take a new approach to ensuring energy efficiency of their refrigeration and chilling plant. Which is why the Hubbard Products multi-compressor pack was such a good answer to our requirements. Not only is it highly efficient, but it’s ECA qualifying listing on the EPTL allowed my clients’ to benefit from the government’s improved capital allowance benefits for Carbon Trust qualified energy efficient refrigeration”.

Barry Bridel continues; “The whole Hubbard Products unit is extremely ‘user-friendly’, my team of engineers can monitor and control the pack remotely from our ‘smart’ phones and can assess performance in real-time, allowing us to plan maintenance effectively, ensuring the whole chilling and refrigeration plant is run in the most economical way for our customers. The ability to recover waste heat and convert it into usable hot water is a valuable bonus”.
