Commercial news Hubbard launches New Packaged Unit Ranges

ECA Listed Scroll and Non ECA Hermetic delivering potential energy savings of 23% with F-Gas friendly low noise operation

Hubbard Products Commercial Refrigeration Division today announces the launch of an all-new 41 model range of ultra-efficient, F-Gas friendly packaged condensing units. The HZS Zenith range of Scroll Packaged Condensing Units and HZH Zenith Hermetic Packaged Condensing Units will be available from the 4th January 2010 and will replace the Hubbard HCP and HCPS ranges.

Low noise with average 23% greater energy efficiency through improved design features with 0% Interest Carbon Trust Loans and tax efficient Enhanced Capital Allowances on Scroll models.

The new product range offers Scroll (HZS) and Hermetic (HZH) options for both medium temperature and low temperature operation, with a future range of EVI scroll low temperature machines to follow shortly. The range includes the new Summit ZB compressors in the larger HT scroll units providing improved efficiency and considerable weight reduction.

The new Hubbard HZ Zenith Ranges are designed around three case sizes (A, B & C) providing the most efficient combination of condenser coil and low noise fans using special blade geometry. Case A (mm 1013L x 684H x 485D) for capacities up to 3.5 kW, Case B (mm 1150L x 787H x 493D), for capacities from 3.5 to 6 kW and Case C (mm 1368L x 989H x 622D) for capacities from 6 to 13.5 kW.

Superior component specification delivers maximum efficiency and ensures F-Gas regulation compliance from design, through manufacture to installation, commissioning, service and maintenance. The new Hubbard Zenith Ranges are designed to prevent leaks and simplify the future testing of system integrity under current legislation requirements.

The Hubbard Zenith Range specification includes as standard:

Options

The new Hubbard Zenith Range features a unique* electronic control board designed for refrigeration units providing two separate control facilities - 'Standard' or PEEC™ mode which delivers potential energy savings of 23%.
*Patent applied for.

Standard Control Mode

Standard control mode maintains a pre-set condensing condition, similar to a 'fan speed control' providing stable pressure and reduced noise at low load conditions, such as during evening and night time operation, unlike traditional controllers which still allow full speed operation leading to ramp noise at load, for instance after defrost, the new Hubbard Zenith Ranges utilise a switchable ambient probe combined with a unique algorithm to limit the maximum speed of the fan in relation to the ambient condition therefore limiting the ramp affect making it ideal for noise sensitive sites.

PEEC
Control Mode

PEEC™ Performance Enhanced Electronic Control* operation provides the system with a sophisticated fan speed control which allows the unit to operate when achievable at the optimum condensing temperature in relation to its evaporating temperature without jeopardizing liquid quality to the expansion valve.

Example:

A traditional 3.75m refrigerated dairy case with a nominal capacity of 5.28 kW and incorporating a standard Scroll unit with F Speed Control restricted to a 350C condensing minimum would incur an energy cost of £896.00 per annum.
The same refrigeration unit fitted with a Hubbard HZS Zenith Scroll unit
operating in PEEC™ mode would incur an energy cost of just £654.00
per annum.

Energy saving 27%

The figures are based on the following assumptions, and are for guidance only
Night blinds, with an efficiency reduction of 40% in use for 8 hours.
Energy costs of 9p/kWh peak, 6p/kWh off peak.
UK mean temperatures.
Cabinet data to ISO class 3.
Costs do not include cabinet energy consumption.

Dougie Stoddart, Commercial Director of Hubbard Products says: "2010 sees the culmination of over extensive development and testing in the launch of our new range of packaged units. In 2001, Hubbard's HCP and HCPS ranges were one of the first truly packaged refrigeration solutions, now the Hubbard Zenith Range series of equipment will deliver Hubbard's commitment to providing the customer with not only a cost effective refrigeration solution but also an energy efficient unit with the capacity to reduce energy costs significantly in operation".
